Kindness Fairy

Have you ever heard of the Kindness Fairy?

She lives in the woods and makes a magical appearance occasionally to remind us all to be kind to one another and our plant and animal neighbors. Similar to those little elves that are mysteriously appearing in children's homes this time of year, the Kindness Fairy can be found in all kinds of places, indoors and out. Unlike those elves that appear at only certain times of the year, Kindness Fairies can be found ALL throughout the year spreading kindness to all!

Start a new tradition and share the most wonderful gift of all-kindness!

The Kindness Fairy is made from natural materials you can find in the woods, in your yard, or anywhere outdoors!

Be creative and design your own Kindness Fairy using sticks, rocks, seashells, leaves, seeds, etc. or follow the simple directions below to create one from a pinecone similar to the one pictured here.

You will need:

  • 1 Pinecone

  • 2 Milkweed pods

  • 1 acorn

  • tacky glue or a glue gun

  • marker for drawing a face

  • ribbon or string to hang

  • twist tie or ribbon to hold messages

  • paper for messages

Simply assemble your fairy by glueing the milkweed pod wings to the pinecone body, and then the acorn head to the top of the pinecone. Then draw on a face! Finally, attach a string or ribbon so you can hang her in various places and attach a twist tie to help her hold her message.

When you’re ready, write your message on a small piece of paper and roll it up like a scroll and attach it with the twist tie or ribbon.

Possible Message Ideas:

  • Hello! I am the Kindness Fairy who lives amongst the trees in the forest and I have chosen to visit you to help me spread kindness. Our animal friends are hungry this time of year & need your help. Think of a way to help the birds in your backyard survive when food is scarce. When you have finished, think of a friend who could also help and send me along to help others spread kindness.

  • Hello Friends! I am the Kindness Fairy of the forest and have chosen to visit your class to help spread kindness at your school. Do you know how hard the custodians work to keep your school clean and a pleasant place to learn? Send them messages of thanks with notes, cards or drawings showing your appreciation. When you are finished send me along to another class that might like to spread kindness.
