Check out the live map to see where in the world these bird counts are coming from.

View the real-time birding results from birders of all ages from all over the globe!

Submit any beautiful bird photos you take to the Macaulay Library, ‘the world’s premier scientific archive of natural history.’

Why is it important?

Your data collection may be small, but when it’s combined with people’s data from all over the world it becomes HUGE! Scientists use the data as a whole to learn more about long term trends in bird populations, bird diversity, and migration paths. This helps us to understand how we can best protect birds and the places they live. Birds are a great indicator of the health of our ecosystem, so scientists can see how the environment and climate are changing worldwide!
